Land of the Dead, you say?

With the massive influx of LotD information from this weekend's Games Day, I thought it only prudent that I chime in with my .02$. So, behold! My thoughts on LotD!

1. Warhammer Alliance and crew really out did themselves with their coverage. Yes, I know this doesn't really pertain to my thoughts on the expansion itself, but damnit! They deserve a round of applause!

2. The graphics seem much, much crisper than I am used to and I don't have a slouch of a machine at all.

3. Adding the "console/action" style elements might be a nice change of pace to the normal MMO-style game play. On the other-hand, it may be frustrating for those of us (like myself!) who have not played a console game in years. The last console game I played was Super Metroid for the Nintendo 64!

4. The last boss who looks to be a huge statue is incredibly cool looking. I truly look forward to facing this guy down. I love big bosses and that is one thing that I miss from WoW. I know that the word "raid" is a dirty word for a lot of WAR players but there is something to be said of a large group of players facing down an immense enemy. One thing I have always liked about the potential of the PQ is the "epicness" of the boss fight without all the headaches of the typical WoW raid. If Mythic manages to capture that feel with a PQ and with a boss fight that goes beyond the normal tank-n-spank, I'm all in!

5. What the heck is a mustaba??

6. I am now officially begging the Warhammer community: Please, please, please... do not take the path of least resistance and avoid the PvP fights! Don't take a new instance when there are still players inside to kill! Come in after me.....I DARE YOU!

7. As cool as LotD looks, Mythics number one priority has to be the normal end-game, performance of the client and the myriad of bugs in the game. Don't forget that the players will probably love this new expansion but what we truly want is to take the enemies city from them after a long intense PvP battle in the streets. That is what WAR should be about, the side events are nice but we want the main attraction!

So, there ya have it, my initial thoughts on LotD. I personally can not wait.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://qotbs.blogspot.com/2009/05/land-of-dead-land-of-dead-you-say.html' title='Land of the Dead? I was all set to play an Ironbreaker at release and did, in fact, level one to about 25 before real life issues caused me to have to leave the game for a bit.

Upon return, a week or so ago, I was all set to level my Iron Breaker up to the cap. However, I logged on to him and found myself completely and utterly lost. I had no idea what quests to do next nor what most of the abilities did. Coming back from a long absence to a character that is not at the level cap is confusing at best. So, I decided to start a new character.

Looking over the classes I decided to go with the Knight of the Blazing Sun. He was one of the few classes I didn't play during beta and he looked like an interesting choice.

I am currently level 16 on my Knight and everything is going smoothly. He seems to be almost as stout as my Ironbreaker was and twisting does not bother me in the least, though if the Twister add on did not exist I would probably find it much more tedious.

One thing that is frustrating for me, however, is the speed in which I am leveling. There are a whole lot of things to do in WAR. Public Quests, normal quests, City Dungeons, scenarios and Open RvR to name a few. I am constantly finding myself outleveling content that I have every intention and desire to do.

I grabbed a few quests the other night in the very begining of Troll Country but find myself immersed in a huge RvR battle in the zone. It was fun and I had a great time but when I finished that I found that I had already started to outlevel the quests I had just taken. If I do a couple more scenarios or even more Open RvR then I might as well move on because those quests and Public Quests in that area are useless to me.

Along the same lines, I put up an event on the calendar of my guild for Wednesday night. The first few sewer instances in Altdorf. I put up the event but by the time Wednesday I will have outleveled the early instances.

This makes me worry about Mount Gunbad, which I thouroughly enjoyed in beta. Will I be rushed through that because I like to RvR and do scenarios? If so, that is disappointing. I am one of those players that tries to enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

Am I in the minority here? Do you feel WARs leveling is too fast? Too slow? Or just right?

My first post.

Well, folks.

Welcome to my little corner of the blogging world. This is my first blog and, thus, my first post on any blog ever. Cut me some slack because I am new to this!

So why did I start this blog? I have a love for MMOs in general and Warhammer Online in particular. I have played an MMO of some type for the last 11 years or more. I started in Asheron's Call, moved into DAoC, WWII Online, CoHs, EQ2 and WoW. I spent nearly 4 years in WoW before getting burned out with the end game.

This brings me to WAR. I have always loved the Warhammer world. I played the RPG for many years as a child and into my early teens and although I never got into the table-top, I had a massive appreciation for the game. WAR seemed like a dream come true when it was announced. I was lucky enough to get into the beta and despite the flaws have been enjoying it ever since.

The game is not perfect by any means and my thoughts will bear this out, however I do find it to be a very fun game. I hope you enjoy my take on WAR, MMOs in general and whatever else I can think of popping in here.

Welcome!
